Ocean
City Fire/EMS
The
Fire/EMS Division of the Ocean City Department of Emergency Services
provides pre-hospital emergency medical services to the residents and
visitors of the Town of Ocean City, Maryland. In addition to EMS,
the division works with Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company to provide
fire suppression and rescue services.
The
Fire/EMS Division staff consists of 31 full-time
paramedic/firefighters, 33 part-time EMS
provider/firefighters, and 11 command staff officers (5 lieutenants, 5
second lieutenants and a Division Captain). Supporting the
Fire/EMS Division is the Administrative Office Associate for the
Department of Emergency Services.
The
Fire/EMS Division responds to about 5000 calls each year--many of which
occur during the busy summer season. The Fire/EMS Division has a fleet
of 9 advanced life support ambulances, 3 command vehicles, a
Paramedic Engine and a special operations
trailer. Fire/EMS response vehicles and personnel are housed
at fire stations throughout Ocean
City. The Fire/EMS
Division was awarded the Maryland Seal of Excellence by the Maryland
Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS)
